Traditional Turkish Coffee Recipe

Traditional Turkish coffee is a strong and flavorful coffee that is popular in Turkey and the Middle East. It is frequently served with a small sweet treat, such as Turkish delight or baklava. This recipe yields two cups of coffee.

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 5 minutes
  • Total Time: 10 minutes

Instructions

  • In a small Turkish coffee pot or saucepan, heat the water and sugar (if using) over medium heat until hot.
  • Take the pot off the heat and stir in the coffee.
  • Return the pot to the stove and bring the coffee to a simmer.
  • Stirring is not permitted.
  • When the coffee begins to foam and reaches the top of the pot, remove it from the heat.
  • Pour the coffee and foam into two demitasse cups.
  • Allow the coffee to sit for a minute before serving to allow the grounds to settle.
