Turkish coffee is a traditional coffee preparation method that originated in Turkey. It's made by simmering finely ground coffee beans in water with optional sugar, then letting the mixture settle before serving. As a result, the coffee is strong and flavorful, with a thick foam on top.

Instructions

  • Pour water and sugar into a cezve (Turkish coffee pot).
  • (if using).
  • Stir constantly over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Stir in the coffee grounds briefly to combine.
  • Allow the coffee to heat up without stirring.
  • Remove from the heat when the coffee begins to foam and spoon the foam into the coffee cups.
  • Return the cezve to the heat and bring the coffee back to a simmer.
  • Divide the coffee evenly among the cups.
  • Allow a minute for the coffee to settle before serving.
